Since Apple has released the iPhone 8 many have considered it a 'failure'.
Would you choose the new iPhone 8/8+ or the 1-year-old iPhone 7/7+ ?

I have the SE too. But I will jump if a reduction in price happens like on Black Friday or Electronic Monday or whatever it is called for no sim model. Not sure which color however. Space gray or Silver!

Don’t believe the hype. Some people are calling it a failure simply because a good deal of people are waiting to buy the new iPhone X with the edge to edge display. If it weren’t for that, those same folks would be buying the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. Having said that, i would easily choose the iPhone 8 over the iPhone 7, but either should be sufficient for you, depending on your smartphone needs.

Depends on what a person wants. The phones are pretty similar with the 8 having a few new features that the 7 doesn’t have like portrait mode (I think that’s what it’s called) and wireless charging. If those two features are enough to sway someone he/she will get the 8. If not, he/she will get the 7. I have the 7+ and switched to an S8+ and now I have the 8+ because I like wireless charging, the new gold color (soo pretty) and the glass back.

I think it depends on the type of phone user you are. Are you the type to get a new phone every year? Or are you the type that keeps a phone for 3 years?

For future proof and longevity it's best to go with the latest phone available, as it will be relevant for longer.

    Yep!
I’d always recommend anyone to get the latest and greatest if they can afford it.

For myself, I hav always bought the latest device outright when it released. But, I have the financial means to do so and I always recommend shopping with what you checkbook can afford.

The nice thing that Apple and the carriers have done is their upgrade plans where you can trade your older device in and for a monthly payment you can have the latest device.

Personally I think this is not a bad way to go and most payments are in the 30.00 a month range or below, which is not bad.

With these companies releasing new devices on yearly basis, as long as your budget can justify the monthly payment, you will always have the latest device in the palm of your hand.

Actually I'm thinking about buying the X, as I was just curious about what people's opinions are on the new 8.
And I don't think that it's a failure, it's just not a big step forward but an improvement

I like my 7 but if you want the glass and wireless charging capability then do the 8. In my opinion, you can’t go wrong either way.

I switched my 6s for the 8 one week ago, never owned a 7. But the 8 is definitely not a failure. It’s beautiful in black with the glass back and very quick for everything

*IF* I were going to upgrade my 6 anytime soon, I'd go with the 8 simply for the wireless charging. But I'm perfectly satisfied with the 6 for now. Maybe in another year I'll see whats available.

To answer your question, I'd go with the 8. I'm waiting for the X, but after playing with it in the store if I'd don't like the feel of it, I'll be going with the 8 plus.
