I notice the iPhone 7 Apple silicone case does fit fine on the iPhone 8. I also notice they are not yet selling a case/battery pack for the iPhone 8 from Apple. Does the Apple battery pack for the 7 work/fit with the 8, has anyone tried it yet?

I asked this specific question at the Apple Store when I went to pick up an 8 Plus. Employee told me it fits just fine.

I would assume it fits since the dimensions are so similar, but I wonder if the charging and the software on the phone that integrates the internal battery and battery pack reporting all works ok. It just seems odd they didn't rebrand the battery pack case as "iPhone 7/8" like they did with all the leather and silicone cases...

I asked an Apple employee and they said it’ll fit just fine. But Apple might release an updated version in the future.

Sorry, I must not have been clear. Fit is one thing, working properly as a battery pack with the internal battery is another issue.

If it fits, it’ll work properly as it’s intended to be.

It may but then it may not. Just remember it’s possible having a different processor could factor since it’s a smart case. Apple labels their leather cases as universal but they don’t label the battery case the same. So until somebody tries it, we just don’t know.

You’re right. I’ve asked Apple Support, but it’s still better to be safe.

It that I have the battery case or an 8, but I’m curious to know it it really works. I’m sure sooner or later somebody here will be able to say.

When I had an iPhone 8 I used my 7 battery case and it worked fine. The only problem I did have was when I removed the case the phone was very tight due to the slightly thicker iPhone 8. It took some finessing to get it out.
