Based on the rumors about Apple to replace Touch ID with Face recognition, I have two questions:

    1. How will the Face ID work in the darkness. Will it flash your face every time You pick up the phone?

    2. Do I need to remove every single photo with my face on it, in the the entire space of internet, to keep my phone locked for strangers?

Welcome to iMore. At this time only Apple can answer those questions which I'm sure will be covered Tuesday in the Apple Keynote. Until then your guess is as good as anyone's. Post often and enjoy.

From what rumors suggest “FaceID” will use infrared and depth mapping. In addition to working in literally pitch black environments, photographs—or even identical twins—should not be able to defeat the system.

    I doubt we’re looking at a Galaxy S8 problem.

I’m confident they will. Apple has a history of launching features the right way, not at all like some other smartphone makers who launch features as quickly as possible just so they can say they had it first.

Maybe, but it seems according to Apple they should be able to differentiate. You’ll have to try it for us and let us know.

Unless you’re literally wearing a mask, Face ID will work with whatever makeup you have. I think the only time it will fail is if your face is too shiny, as in the infrared signals bounce back from your face without having a good read.
