My phone made the camera shutter noise when I never had the camera open, I’m so worried!

I had whatsapp chat open on my iPhone 7 when suddenly my phone started to make the sound it makes, when you take a burst picture, The camera wasn't even open. I had to turn my phone off to make it stop! It’s strange because my phone is in perfect shape and it has only happened that once.This is very concerning to me that my pictures were taken without my consent! Can somebody please help me understand, I haven’t found anybody else’s that’s experienced this.

I never used WhatsApp so maybe someone with more knowledge will come around and give you more insight

As for the camera shutter sound it’s also used when taking Screenshots so go into your photos and make sure you didn’t take any screenshots

Did you look in your camera roll to see if new photos are displaying?

I use WhatsApp a lot and have never come across this issue.
Are you sure that photos were taken? If yes, did they get sent to someone?
