WhatsApp Notification Problem

Hi guys.

Upgraded from a 5S recently. I've been having an issue with the App Badge notifications on the iPhone 7. They will not show the number of unread messages. In fact, there is no display of any app badge.
Messages still show up in notification centre though.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app. I've rebooted my phone multiple times. No change.

Any help would be appreciated!

And I also sent an email to the developer but I got an auto response as to how to set a background wallpaper in my chats.

Be sure when you delete, then reinstall, you give the app permissions for notifications.

I think it's a bug in WhatsApp. If you leave the app open in the background, the app badge seem to work. If the app is swiped off, the app badge doesn't show up.

i am facing a problem, whenever i open the whatsapp its automatically force-stopped.

For me, it helped to have a look at the notifications settings in the Settings app. Without changing anything there, just through reviewing the existing settings, notifications surprisingly started to work again

With yesterday's WhatsApp update the notification issue was resolved. Fully working now

I'm having issues too even after the update. but my whatsapp keeps defaulting back to the original notification sound. even though i have a special one selected for all messages.

my iphone 7 experience has been awful.
