I'll be going for a plastic or silicone, not leather, case this time. My previous case from lucrin is still in too good shape after so long. It takes away the joy of shopping for new accessories for my phone.
However, my bf - the overly practical guy - has already ordered his lucrin sleeve for his iPhone 7.
Black with orange stitching.
I ordered the xDoria defense Edge bumper (which is apparently delayed until the last week of September). They sent an email notifying me of the delay and refunded 15% of the case. I wanted a case to show off the matte black so I'll post a review once I get it. Their website calls it space gray, but their customer service rep said it matches the new black. Perhaps they are modifying the color which is the reason for the delay.
Just an FYI- spent 2 hours at Best Buy last night. Tried my 6s in a ton of iPhone 7 cases and it fit perfect. I believe the 7 will fit perfectly fine in 6s/6 cases.
ISSUES:
*Kind of uncool, the Casemate iPhone 7 cases on the bottom had a cutout shaped for the 3.5mm Jack that we know is gone. So clearly repackaged and branded as iPhone 7 but are left over iPhone 6s/6
*All Otterbox 7 cases fit perfect as well, so again you should be able to use your 6s/6 cases with your 7 except the tab cover on the bottom would be odd.
*The Tech Evo Cases and Tumi cases were the ONLY cases in the entire store that actually appeared with the correct cutouts with equal left and right openings and of course opening for lighting port.
*Moral of the story, if you can't find a case you like it's probable your 6s/6 case will fit fine until you do.

I imagine the larger camera bump of the 7 might not fit in cases that have slim cutouts for the 6/6s camera. Cases that already have plenty of space might just make it.

Agreed:
Which is sort of my point about how uncool it is I found so many cases labeled iPhone 7, but had the 3.5mm Jack cutout still so obviously were not made for the 7. Could go either way. I'll know in 2 hours when I pick mine up.
So here's what I've learned...the size of the camera hole determines the fit. Some 6/6s cases have a large enough opening that you can use them with the the 7 while others don't. It's hit or miss
I thought about that, too, but have never seen a clear case that I liked. Will likely get a leather.
Try this one.

iPhone 7 Plus Case, Spigen [Air Skin] Ultra-Thin [Soft Clear] Premium Semi-transparent Lightweight / Exact Fit / NO Bulkiness Hard Case for Apple iPhone 7 Plus (2016) - (043CS20499)
I ended up ordering one of the new Speck inked Presidios today. They finally had a print I cared about. I wanted a clear with a pattern but they didn't have any I liked.
I used my last 6s screen protector which BARELY worked. I am going to watch for the releases and grab one then. I typically go crystal films but I might just get a glass this time, though I can't deal with them having a fuzz under them.
I ended up getting the grey leather case from Apple. Looks super nice on the matte black 7. I may, however, swap it for another. The leather feels much more slick than the ones i used on my 6 and 6s. I may go silicone. I'll give it a few days and decide.
I picked up a few cases I've come to really like, especially for their great protection, slim profile and clear back. These phones are too gorgeous to hide behind an opaque texture completely different than the stunning designs they are.

None of the Ringke and Spigen cases I've bought have. They are known for their quality. I'm sure use and environment could play into it but these two brands are excellent. Many people review them on YouTube, spigen and ringke.
I got the Apple leather in black. While at AT&T fixing my new phone, my wife got my old 6. She did not want my Speck Case, but wanted the Leather Case too. They did not have the color she wanted in the 6, but did in the 7. Again as said above it's a perfect fit, except for a bigger camera opening, which is fine. Plus the iPhone 7 version has the nice metal buttons. Firm fit, nice job by Apple. Mine for my iPhone 7 / Black is sitting up in the case a bit. Will fight with it a bit more tomorrow.
I got the Apple leather case in Storm Gray but I'm not really feeling it. Wish I had gone with the Sea Blue. I bought DH the X-Doria 360 with the impression that the front was one piece but it's not. The opening for the home button is really awkward. Does anyone know if the Otterbox Statement has a front cover? Or have any suggestions? He likes clear, snap on front/back, the screen protection as part of the case but not bulky. Not easy to find!
