Horrors? no ibeacons!?

The tech specs for the iPhone 7 do not mention iBeacon micro location under the Location heading where the mention appeared for the 6s. Has Apple given up on micro location, or have iBeacons been subsumed into Bluetooth Low Energy?

I haven't knowingly used them, but I'd guess that at least some of the notifications within Apple retail stores were generated by beacons.

Whether Apple has given up or simply forgotten to include a mention in the specs, either situation suggests that the technology didn't gain a whole lot of traction.

I thought iBeacon was *really* hated by users who don't want their expensive phones tracked and the screens pimped out to anyone willing to pay money to Apple. If the feature has been dropped, that's a very good thing.
