New to iPhone, music question

New to iPhone. Trying to xfer from my Android phone to my new 7 plus. Got everything using Move to iOS except my music. Best I can tell from searching is I have to use iTunes to xfer my music. Install iTunes on my laptop, copy music from android phone to laptop, sync music to iTunes on the laptop, then sync iTunes to my iPhone. Is this correct and the only way ? That's a bit of a pita

Unless you were using a streaming service such as Google Music or Spotify, then yes, you have to import your music into iTunes and from there to your iPhone.

Unfortunately yes, you will have to use iTunes to transfer music to your iPhone unless you purchase music directly from your iPhone or other Apple device using iTunes or the Apple Music app.
