I can't get 3D Touch to work

I can't get it to work. I press on the app and all the apps wiggle for me to choose to delete. Weird. What am I doing wrong. I am technical so don't get it

You have to tap on the app icon kind of hard. Tap down hard and hold there.

That's good.

You need to press down a little bit on the screen to get it to work, but it seems like you're ok now.

Funny because sometimes it feels like the pressure you need to put on the screen isn't good for the screen.

Be ready for it to go wonky sometime and not work. It does not happen often but (usually on my live photo lock-screen image) it will stop reacting to the 3D touch. But a simple restart of the iPhone and it starts working again.
