I bought a phone from someone selling it on FB and everything works well except the silence button is not staying on/off it’s basically broken. I went to Apple store and they said it’s unfixable I need another phone. They replaced my battery for $30 too.
Of course the person I bought it from doesn’t answer... is there a way to repair it? I cannot believe i lost $230 and I won’t hear the phone ringing... it’s stuck on off. At least if it would have been on...please help if you know it’s something any small shop can fix
    Thank you very much!

Usually if Apple says its unfixable it is just that ,one reason I only buy from a reliable source such as Apple store ,it will cost more money upfront however your device will last you much longer ,best of luck with your next purchase .

I hate hearing when folks get fleeced on these online sites like FB and CL and have no recourse.

At least if you where to have bought it on eBay you would have had a way to get your money back, but hindsight is 20/20 and the damage is already done.

As far as being repairable, as the OP said, if Apple says it’s not repairable, it’s toast and you pretty much have to buy another device.

If it’s any comfort, I have also been burned a couple of times on CL and now I pretty much take the time to test anything I buy thoroughly between I hand over my hard earned cash.
