Remove 6S iPhone from find iPhone

Is there a way to remove a wrecked 6S from our iCloud account so it doesn't show in find iPhone?
Phone is in pieces so cant turn on ever.

Log into iCloud, click on Settings. You'll see picture icons of all of your devices. Click on the device you wish to remove, and when the window opens you'll see a blue X next to the device. Click the blue X to remove the device from your account.

Ended up going onto Apple chat and a allowed a supervisor to view my screen and got it sorted, we tried above wouldn't work.

Odd that it didn't work. That's what I did to trade in my previous phone for my new one, and what we had to do with my husbands new Apple watch so that I could test it to see if I wanted one. The only glitch we ran into with the watch was it had to be powered down completely before we could remove it from his account.
