I have to plug into iTunes to sync my music since it's all stored locally (yes, I still buy and own physical CDs). The problem was that syncing was very slow, maybe at least 30 seconds for each song. Multiply that by 2,500 or so and it was taking forever! So I synced over wi-fi and it was a lot faster but since it was late I just let it run overnight. Any idea why it took so long over USB 2.0? It should certainly be a lot faster than G wi-fi.

Make sure you are using an MFI cable to sync. MFI cables have the Made for iPhone logo and will cost more, but then again they work. Maybe the cable you have is damaged defective? Try a different cable.
