I have the iPhone 6s and don't hear texting sound

Basically when someone is texting me on the iPhone 6s I do not hear any sounds. I get the haptic sound on my watch but that is it. I tried calling Apple Care but were of no help. I have an appointment at the genius bar but thought I would check to see if anyone else has the same problem. Is there any way to solve the problem? It is quite frustrating.

Go through settings on the phone, change the sound for text messages and see if that works... Then change back to the desired sound.
