But hasn't widgets sitting on the left most screen affected the way you use them? You don't have to pull down from the notification bar and swipe left anymore.

Do you think their location has affected the ease of use in someway too?

Not really. They're just more accessible.

So where is this security issue you're afraid of? Explain how it's a security issue!

Security considerations
As any program code, widgets can be used for malicious purposes. One example is the Facebook ?Secret Crush? widget, reported in early 2008 by Fortinet as luring users to install Zango adware.

from wikipedia web widget entry, there are others.

2008? Lol The iPhone was 1 year old and had no widgets then. I'm not concerned about widget security. When did anyone EVER have malware on their iPhone? China doesn't count.

I started using widgets a bit more in iOS 10. Probably not as much as you, but I use weather, news, contact shortcuts and notes. And I find it quite useful. I mainly use it for weather and news though

We'll that's disappointing. I was really excited for those

Ease of use is better. While there are some differences, they work basically the same way. I like it. I like being able to swipe right on the lock screen to bring them up. Developers can add a "Show more/show less" option that helps keep it neat. That's a nifty new feature.
Here's how that works:
Tap on show less
