I found a fix. Just remove your previous fingerprints and again add them to your iphone. That should definitely work. I tried that and It worked.

If your hand wet or oily, then it doesn't work. You can use dry cloth also.

I have found if there is anything on my fingers, it sometimes has problem- but overall is pretty reliable. I would suggest you just reset your fingerprints.

I have an iPhone 6s and out of the box had no issues with the fingerprint sensor. But as many have stated with time (probably most prominent in the last 2 months) I have seen that it will often give me issues off and on with finger recognition. I clean my phone quite often and can attest that in my case it is unrelated to dirty/wet fingers. I remember this happening also with my iPhone 5s as well. I'll probably be deleting and resetting my fingerprints again which had helped when I had the issue on my iPhone 5s.

Mine works about 98% of the time without issue. the only problems I've had is after washing my hands or putting on lotion. If it doesn't scan after a couple attempts it will tell me that I have to enter the passcode to enable Touch ID.

Yeah 98-99% it works. That drops to 95% when I use my LifeProof case.

I generally dont have any problems with my fingerprint not being accepted, the only exceptions are when I am at the gym and my fingers are sweaty or Im eating finger foods and may have some slightly greasy fingers. But on any normal time it works great... to great actually... sometimes i just want to check the time so i hit the home button and it will immediately unlock the phone instead of showing me the lock screen. lol

Sometimes the Touch ID don't work because, in my case, my fingers are often oily or dirty!
So that I always clean the Touch ID and my finger when I want to unlock my phone!

Me too, even works well with my LifeProof Fre, as long as not too much dirt or oil then it won't work anyway.

I have the most trouble with my left thumb. Happens on my 6S+ and happened on my 6+ as well. I don't remember if my 5S had the same problem or not. It will work for a while when I enter it new but then it pretty much doesn't work after a couple days again. My hands get really dry and cracked so I wonder if that's a problem. Oh well, it's not my primary TouchID finger.

Today there has been a few times when I've gone to unlock the phone and it asks me for the unlock code and not taking my fingerprint. After I unlock with the code I can then use the fingerprint, like you have to do after turning the phone completely off but the thing is I haven't turned my phone off at all today. Has anyone else had this problem and do you think I need to do a factory reset? I've only had the phone ten days and haven't had any problems until today.
I teach a class for new iPhone users and I often hear people complain that it doesn't work. Usually we add a new fingerprint and it works fine.
