How can I find my lost phone?

Bag on back of truck with iPhone 6xplus in bag. Husband drove off, can't find bag/phone anywhere. Tried "find my iPhone" but said my phone is offline. What does that mean and what else can I do to locate it??

Welcome to iMore! Sorry to hear you lost your device. All you can do is hope someone finds it and turns it in. You might also try checking back in from time to time. If the phone is turned on and is able to connect it may send it's location if you enabled the feature in Find My iPhone settings.
