I've been having this problem since updating to iOS 9. It happened on my old 6 Plus, and now it's still happening on my 6S Plus.

Basically, when my phone is in portrait mode, it won't switch to Landscape mode unless I moved to a different page on my homescreen...it will then flip to Landscape, but then will be stuck on that. Same thing with switching back to Portrait mode...I have to physically touch the screen to move to a different page for it to move back to Landscape.

Never had this happen until iOS 9. And no, it has nothing to do with Orientation Lock being turned on.....

I've also had an intermittent problem with two folders on my home screen (bottom left 2) being distorted. I'll restart the phone and they'll be fine, but then will randomly revert back to looking like this.Orientation Lock Problems....and other iOS 9 bugs-img_0091.jpg

It started with iOS 9, as I updated my 6 Plus to that OS, now I've got my new 6S Plus and the problem is still there.

So it's been there since iOS 9 on two devices for me

These are not iOS 9 bugs...this is an issue with your backup or your phone specifically. Neither of those things are being widely reported at all. There are some orientation issues that ARE bugs in iOS 9 (and really have been prevalent since iOS 8), but they do not mirror what you are reporting.

Did you find a fix for this? I have the exact issue minus the issue with the folders.

I'm having the same issue. Just random landscape mode when I never turned the phone sideways.

Been having the same issue from 9.) through 9.0.2. Super annoying. Have to open any app, then go back to home screen to get it back to portrait.

Is the issue where going into Messages from another app brings up a blank space where keyboard is but still being able to type letters common?

I had this same issue when I purchased my 6S Plus. I restored from an iCloud backup of my 6 Plus, and my screen would not rotate correctly after. So I made another backup with iTunes and restored my 6S Plus to factory settings and tested before doing a restore and rotation was working correctly. I then restored from my iTunes backup and had the rotation issue again. So I figured it must be something corrupt in the backups. So once I restored as new again I just setup as a new iPhone and have not had the issue since. It was a pain having to set everything up again but at least it's working now.
