General iPhone 6 difficulties

My friend's new iPhone 6 won't show her how to delete old contacts. It won't let her add new contacts from the calls she makes. It doesn't seem to have a decent search feature. She can't use the voice feature to tell it to call the nearest whatever. She has to unlock the phone every 5 minutes with a 6 digit code. She's had it 3-4 days & is wondering what to do. Which of these things can be easily fixed?

My friend's new iPhone 6 won't show her how to delete old contacts.

The phone will not show her how to do anything. It is up to her to manipulate the phone to do what she wants it to do based on its capabilities.

It won't let her add new contacts from the calls she makes.

. All she has to do is select the circled i next to the phone number she wants to create a contact for and then select "Create New Contact".

It doesn't seem to have a decent search feature.

Swipe down on the home screen and then enter whatever it is she wants to search for.

She can't use the voice feature to tell it to call the nearest whatever.

That voice feature is called Siri. Has she enabled Siri in the settings? https://www.imore.com/siri

She is not required to unlock the device ever 5 minutes. If she has set a lock screen passcode then she will indeed have to enter the passcode to get to the home screen.

She's had it 3-4 days & is wondering what to do. Which of these things can be easily fixed?

The search feature is accessed by swiping down from the top of the screen

The Hey Siri feature on an iPhone 6 only works when the phone is plugged in to power.

Make sure Touch ID is enabled, then you shouldn't be prompted for the code all of the time.

To delete a contact you have to go into that contact and be in Edit mode. Then scroll down and tap on Delete at the very bottom. To add a contact you must either add it manually, or add it from the Call Log after that person has called you.

Another thought that might be helpful... if your friend happens to live near an Apple Store, there are all sorts of "workshops" available to help her learn about her phone. They are really great, and the best part... they are completely free AND you can take them as often as you like. They can be found on Apple's website, under "Today At Apple".
