What do should I do when my Iphone freezes?

Shortly after getting my phone the home button stopped working so I have the on screen home button so holding the home button and lock button will not work for me. I tried powering it off but it wont let me touch or click on anything on the screen except the on screen home button. Any ideas?

My answer to this question will always be the same. Get the home button fixed.

When you said you "tried" to power it off, what did you do? Did you tap on lock screen in the assistive touch? That will power off the phone.
Tap on device.

Then tap lock screen.

Hopefully that works to unfreeze the screen.
