Am I missing something?

Sorry if its a dumb question, but I've been away from IOS for 4 years. When I go to the App Store to do a search, I hit the magnifying glass at the bottom, which takes me to another screen where I have to hit the search bar at the top. Is this correct? Why in the world would it need to take two steps to get to the actual search box? Or, am I missing something? Thanks.

You're not missing anything. The search icon at the bottom brings up the search box at the top. It's just how it is. If you'd like Apple to know how you feel about it, feel free to leave feedback at the support site.
