Hello,
During last weekend my facebook messenger crashed a few times.
I deleted it and reinstalled.
After reopening the app and looking in my inbox, from almost 100 messages, i had found only 5.
I don`t know where are the other messages...simply vanished away.
Did you encounter this situation?
I don't use the Facebook Messenger app or even have an active Facebook account so I really don't know what to tell you except to contact Facebook support.
Do they show online? Have you checked Facebook messages in Safari?
It`s the same situation also for Safari, or Chrome on my laptop.
I googled this situation and saw that other users also had this problem, but i couldn`t find any solution for it.
You might have better luck with the Facebook Community. Send Facebook feedback on this, but go to the community as well. Facebook does not reply as they used to. They might, but try the community.

If it happened on computer and phone, then it's not app or device. It must be with the account itself. I would try logging out of Facebook on all devices. Delete the Facebook and Messenger apps. Delete Facebook in Settings on the phone. Delete all Facebook data from Safari. Reboot the phone. Add Facebook back in Settings. Download the app and log in. Download Messenger. If it continues to happen, keep trying to reach Facebook support.
