Try plugging it in, or holding the power & home button at the same time.

Why did it go off to begin with? Was it battery down to zero and you let it cut off? It should turn on as soon as you plug it in to charge it and if not I would suggest calling your local Apple store or Apple to set up a genius bar appt.

If you've tried rebooting the device, changing the power cord and using a different outlet, you may need to make a Genius Bar appointment with the nearest Apple Store.

If you let the battery completely cr@p out and it shut itself off you may just need to let it charge for several minutes before turning it back on.

most likely the battery drained out you need a new replacement because the main components basically burned out so that phone is done. same thing happened to my galaxy 4 and iphone 6 apparently. it does that once the phone gets way too hot often
