    I'm thinking of switching platforms and giving my iPhone 6 to my wife. Do I need to take my iPhone to ATT and have them change the sim card or can her number be transferred without a sim swap?

    Does your wife have a phone with the same size sim as the iPhone sim? If yes...just swap sims...if no, you'd need a new sim.

    Her current phone uses a normal-sized sim. I suspected I'd need to get another sim card.

    Should i restore as a new iPhone before or after the sim swap?

    Yep...need a new sim... Do the restore as a new phone after installing the sim for your wife's number.
