Verizon is not locked... Apple sells unlocked 6s devices... The rest of the carriers... If you buy at full retail price, they shoul be unlocked on GSM... If you buy at a carrier subsidized price, they are locked until the contract is fully honored and carriers shoul unlock upon request after contact ends.

Verizon and Sprint are CDMA. So buying phones from them will not work at all.
TMO and ATT sell branded units.
If you want to buy it truly unlocked it needs to come from Apple directly as a GSM unlocked device.
IF you need service for Sprint or Verizon the Unlocked GSM will not work.

Verizon iPhone 6 is fully unlocked BUT its still a CDMA based iPhone. He is asking about GSM iPhones.

Again, incorrect they have both CDMA and GSM radios in the phone.

and once again i point out its a CDMA based unit. Please read carefully.
I did not say CDMA only, the primary radios in the unit are CDMA, like with Sprint. Then the fall back for international travel is GSM.
So its a CDMA based unit.
The original poster is looking at GSM and Unlocked.
So yet again, my original statement is correct.
Will an Unlocked Verizon i6 work for the original poster? Maybe but they do not indicate what they are actually trying to accomplish. So to avoid confusion im merely pointing him to the best answer.
Splitting hairs maybe but if you buy an Unlocked unit from Apple directly it does not have CDMA hardware inside it.
Does an Unlocked Verizon 6 have GSM radios in it, sure but thats NOT what the original poster wanted to know.
At least @turbodave38 provided some info. Unlike @SwitchBeach who simply says my answer is Incorrect then doesnt share what he thinks the correct answer is.

The Verizon iPhone is fully unlocked and will work on gsm only carriers also if purchased from an Apple Store the T-Mobile iPhone is unlocked
