Hi all, just got an iPhone and figuring out the today pull down thing.

I'm trying to find a news headlines solution. I've tried two (cnn and Google news), and while the apps themselves work fine, neither of them update in the today menu.

I've got background refresh, use cell data, etc everything is toggled on. Yet when you pull it down beside each headline is how long ago it was updated, and it stays on just those headlines for hours. You tap on it, the app opens, and then all of a sudden the headlines update when you check again.

Is this by design? I can't imagine so. Is there a setting I'm missing somewhere?

Many thanks in advance for any help.

Yeah, some work better than others. I don't use a news widget. But it seems they all require launching to the app for the whole story. Fox News works like this. It starts on one report and you have the option to go to the app or tap "next".

So I tap "next" and it goes to:

You'll have to try several and see what suits your needs best.

Well the relief is that it's not just my phone. Thank you for the post, at least that's the silver lining haha.

Ok on to the search again...
