I don't know if you use Mac or PC, but when I connect to the mac iPhoto offers to import my photos from my phone, then when its done it gives me the option to delete them on the phone saving space. I’m not sure if there’s an equal Windows app for this. I also have them saved on several Cloud services.

    Congrats.

As others have said it depends on how much you utilize cloud storage. My girlfriend got 16 GB and was worried since her old phone filled up with that ... But I manage it for her now and when it starts to get full I simply just delete a bunch of photos since I have her photos backup to Google +. Once they're backed up there .. there is no need to keep older pics on the device.
I have my photos to auto back up to Google + as well. Had 16GB phones since my 4S and never had an issue.
    - Super cloud user.

Is there any chance that future iOS upgrades might be too big to install on 16 GB models?

Does using iTunes to do an iOS upgrade avoid needing space on the device to do it? For example, when iOS 9 becomes available, if I only have 2 GB left on my device can I use iTunes to do the upgrade process?
No I don't see that at all! It may take another 2GB more for future iOS! That leaves you with about 10GB for other stuff!

I couldn't go back to 16GB. Ive gotten to the point that just the normal apps that I use, the music that I want locally on the iPhone, a couple movies for the kids, and the pictures that I take on a daily basis is just too much for the 16GB. I could make it work if I had to, but Id rather not have to worry about space. Always went with the 32GB previously, went for the 64GB this time and couldn't be happier. I dont worry about space at all now.

I could probably get by with 16gb on my iPad but I don't keep media on it like my phone.

I'm the opposite haha! If I had to compromise on storage, I'd go less on the phone and more on the iPad

Ha! Well everyone is different I figure I have my iPhone with me all the time so it has my stuff. But the iPad can be convenient too!

maybe it's plenty for you. I have 64gbs and if i'd had the spare money i'd have gone with 128gbs because i have about that in music, plus i take lots of pictures, listen to lots of podcast that i'd prefer to download because cell reception is spotty and it's common to lose connection to a stream when i enter a store or am driving. Plus i've got a bunch of apps. I have 64gbs, i keep about 10gbs free for pictures and videos. It fluctuates sometimes down to about 5 or 6 gbs free but for the most part i use a lot of it. And if i added all my music i'd swamp it.

    16g will not enough.
iphone 6 will have bigger photo, video, so you will need larger space.

In my opinion, I think 64GB is perfect. I too made the mistake of getting 16GB. But wish I would've opted for the bigger size. I am constantly having to transfer pictures onto my computer

I have had iPhones with 16, 32, 64, and 128gb. i must say, the 16gb will not be enough personally. With all the apps you will eventually have and your photos, music, etc.. i'd say go for the 64gb, if you have a lot of stuff on your iPhone like me, go for the 128gb.

That's solid advice. I had 16 GB on my iPad and it wasn't enough. 64 is enough for almost everyone, and 128 is plenty for literally everyone

I agree. I had an iPhone 5 with 16gb, and it was terrible! I had to keep deleting my old photos and apps to make sure I have enough for new ones.

Why would you delete old photos? Have you tried using Box, Dropbox or OneDrive to store your photos?

I usually take a few snaps of what I wanted to take a picture of. So I usually end up deleting em, don't judge, that's just how I take my pictures . I do usually sync my photos to my macbook. I'm just not a fan of using those apps.

I'm not a typical customer (I use multiple phones simultaneously). I got a 16GB iPhone 6 Plus. The only other iPhone that I had before was the iPhone 4 in the 32GB model and I used around 13GB on it. Since then, I don't store as much stuff on my phones anymore. I don't take a lot of pictures and rarely take videos. I don't download movies to my phones at all. My other 16GB phones all have around 8GB free. I couldn't justify blowing an additional $100-$200 for storage that I will probably never use.

This is easily the most annoying thing when it comes to having low storage. The update is huge so the only option for us is to download through iTunes then connect the phone to upgrade

16GB? Well, even 32GB might not be enough if you have a large number of apps and some pics/videos.
