Silent mode but Noise Notifications for Some

I am wondering if I have the iPhone on silent mode can I receive sound notifications from certain calls? or certain messages or mail?

Or is there a way to have some notifications not wake you up when the phone is on sound mode?

You can use do not disturb and set it up that way.

I usually do what zerog said. I use Do Not Disturb for some group messages and some emails because I don't want to keep receiving them all day.
