Got mine reserved for collection at Covent Garden in London. 64GB iPhone 6 in GOLD. Delighted to get Gold this year. Anyone else headed to that store next week?

Me. Successfully reserved an iPhone 6 Space Grey 64GB for pickup at 8-9am at Covent Garden. Will have to queue up early to not miss the time limit.

Apple sent you a notification with that one hour time limit to pick up your device? I reserved one at a store on pre-order night and wasn't given one. I was just told it will be reserved. Apple just today charged my card so I'm sure it'll be reserved for Friday and just treated as any reserve. I'm perplexed that they'd give you a one hour window.

Not saying that he didn’t get that time slot, but if he did, he’s the first to ever get that kind of deal. #smellsfunny

So wait! Even if you pre ordered for in store pick up for the 19th at an Apple Store, they are only giving you an HOUR to pick it up or they will sell your phone?????!!!!!!

I get off early Friday at 12 noon I was gonna get my phone then. Don't they hold your pre order for at least 24 hours right? If now I am gonna have to get to the store super early before work and get my phone.

No, I didn't pre-order it. I used the reserve and pickup option, which is slightly different. It means that they will hold one of their stock for me at the given time slot and if I turn up on time, I am guaranteed an iPhone 6 and pay at the store.

I don't pay for my reservation until on the launch day, but it does mean I get to start in a different queue to the people who are waiting to buy on the door.

EDIT:
It looks like there's been some confusion here.

In the USA, I believe pre-orders can either be shipped or collected in-store as a reservation as soon as stock is available after paying online. In the UK, there is no option to pre-order the iPhone 6 and pick it up in-store. All pre-orders are shipped to the customer's address after online payment.

There is another option where you can reserve an iPhone 6 online and then arrive on the day and buy your iPhone 6 (paying in-store on the day, not online during the reservation stage). For the launch day, Apple Stores in the UK split their stock into two groups: on-the-door stock for the customers who queue up and wait, and reserved stock for customers who don't want to pre-order and wait for shipping. When you set up a reservation for iPhone 6, the Apple Store website will ask you to choose which store you want to go to as well as the configurations that you want. Provided that the chosen item is in stock for the specified store, you can then choose what time you want to arrive and pick up your iPhone. Slots are one hour long and the earliest slot is at 8am.

After visiting a store and consulting a specialist, they told me that on launch day there will be two queues: one for customers with reservations and one for those without. The reservation queue tends to move a lot quicker (approximately 10x compared to the non-reservation queue). If I reserved online and received a confirmation email from Apple, then this means that the chosen store will have my name on a list with a secured iPhone and that I will be guaranteed the configuration I wanted on the 19th, provided that I turn up and pay. They also said that the 8-9am hour slot is just for "traffic management" purposes and that my reservation will not be cancelled if 9am passes before I can enter the store, so long as I visit the store to pick up on the day. If the entire day passes without successful pickup, then my reservation is cancelled and the stock is returned.

Just saw this thread, thought I'd share my experience.

I stayed up on Friday to pre-order, and after trying many many times to get through on the Apple Store App, I had no success, so I ended up ordering from AT&T. Big mistake. AT&T did something stupid (as usual) and messed up my credit card info, so my pre-order basically never went through.

I spent all of Saturday on the phone with AT&T. 7.5 hours on the phone. I was hung up on twice. It got messy.

I ended up re-ordering from Apple, and my phone is expected to get here on release day!

Bottom Line: ORDER FROM APPLE.

(This was my first post, so hey!)

So in the US this matches up with what I experienced during the iPhone4 launch. With the noted exception of a time slot. I would expect that it will be the same for the iPhone6 launch on Friday. Those of us in the U.S. who chose the in store pick up option will have 24 hours to pick up your phone. There will most likely be separate queues however you have have to stand in line to get the that separate queue but once you get there it will move very quickly as opposed to the non in store pick up like 10:1 ratio. I can't wait to get mine. I'm picking mine up at the 5th ave store in NYC.

We'll see about that. Not sure I want to wait in line there (I hear it can be BLOCKS long) I may swing by Thursday evening and see what the line is. That's the beauty of the in store pickup option :)

Same thing happened to my co-worker. They screwed up her credit card info and she had to call in. After an hour she thought she had it resolved but then discovered they charged her card TWICE! She had to call back again. Now she isn't sure when her order is coming. I'm so glad mine went through without a hitch.

My credit card got hit for both of the iPhone 6+ that I ordered. Apple.com still shows 'ships in 7 to 10 business days' but I do not know if that was from the date ordered [7 days ago] or the release date [today].

I don't think they bill until they ship so, with luck, I'll have my phone before I go out of town on the 28th.

I ordered two through AT&T - each on a line eligible for upgrade. Both showed release-day shipping... Next day AT&T canceled one saying the line wasn't eligible [but strangely enough - it still was - go figure].

Then they pushed the ship date out 3~4 weeks on the phone they previously said would deliver on release day...

Canceled the remaining order and went direct with Apple.

Only thing is I paid outright for one and did 2 year contract on the other [wanted to pay outright, didn't get the option] so I think I'm going to go into an Apple store once it shows up and explain I didn't want the contract and that I want to pay the full price and see what they can do.
