Why are my contacts gone after updating my iPhone 6 Plus?

My contacts are gone after updating my iphone 6 plus.

I did a complete backup before resetting my phone about a month ago. How can I restore them?

Welcome to iMore! Did you have your contacts backed up to iCloud? Go to Settings > iCloud > and make sure that Contacts is toggled on. If that doesn't work open the Contacts app, then click on GROUPS on the upper left side of the screen and make sure that iCloud is checked.
After doing both of those, let us know if you're still experiencing issues and we can go from there.
