Is it just me, or is it taking a long time for an OS update?

Not really...

There is one in testing now - 8.1.3 that is expected any time... and 8.2 will come with the release of the Watch...

Just be comforted that in the future if a bug does show up in a release it can get fixed in a few days, not months like android. I love that Apple controls the software on their phones and not the cell carrier.

Furthermore, the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus came with the release of iOS 8.0. In 3 months since the release, we've seen iOS 8.01 and iOS 8.1.2.

I know. Like wtf!! My 6 Plus is terrible. It's slow and I can't do a thing on it. Man Apple is really dropping the ball here ;)

Im hoping that apple does more to improve ios 8 quality soon. im noticing some slowness and unresponsiveness even on my 6 plus. I assume this is a software thing, not hardware.

Huh? No complaints from me. My iPhone 6 and her iPhone 6 plus are as fast and smooth as ever. :)

Being that this is my first iOS device, it could just be me. But is it taking a long time for a new OS release?

Here's a suggestion....go to iMore's sister site CrackBerry and ask the folks there how long is a "long time" to wait for an OS update.

In all seriousness, the posters in this thread are correct. Apple is very good about updating it's OS when problems arise.

Have you traded it in for a Note 4 yet?

Updates are really only needed for bugs, security, or to add functionality. You would only see them frequently for buggy messes. Which would exclude Apple.
Expect one for the Apple Watch launch.
