Notifications: vibrate and no vibrate

Please help me understand something...
- I'd like that when my device is on sound, I get notifications for everything with sound NO vibrate
- I'd like that when I flip the switch on the side of the device, I ONLY get vibrate

How do I set it this way?

I had my device on vibrate mode (flip on the side down), and I received an iMessage. I had no sound, and no vibrate. To try to resolve, I went into notification settings and for iMessage turned on vibrate. But now when the device is on sound, it will vibrate, too. Nooooo

If I'm understanding you, go to Settings - General - Sounds and then toggle OFF the "Vibrate on Ring" and "Vibrate on Silent" options.

Checking that now. I had vibrate on silent, on. I'll perform a test. Thanks

Weird, I turned off the silent (second option) and turned it back on and now it 'seems' to be working right.

More testing to do. Thanks
