I noticed that the stocks app, although it runs in the background according to my iPhone, uses 10% or so of my battery daily. I don't open it al all, I have background app refresh turned off. I assume this is because it is on the screen when I swipe down. Regardless, how can I remove it from the screen or keep it from using so much of my battery? I have made no changes to it and I can't see how I could.

Scroll down to the bottom of the Today view and click Edit. Then remove the stocks app.

Remove Today Summary to get rid of the stock weather.

Gotcha! It does not show up as using even 1% of battery so maybe I'll keep it? I guess it only updates when I pull the screen open?

Traffic conditions are posted after you have enough regular activity under Frequent Locations. It realizes you are going to the same place at the same time of day and gives you those traffic conditions.
