The iPhone 6 Plus is a JOKE. And here I tell you why.
First off, I will start off with my experience:
I have been using the iPhone 6 Plus since September the 19th. Yes I am one of the people that camped out of the Apple Store the day before its launch (Fan boy), there is no need to share my experience as we all know most people always have a good time while on line as you all may know. We all love Apple and it’s all about Apple talks all night and everything makes perfect sense. We are all on the same track. Anyway, I got my hands on the iPhone 6 plus on the 19th. Went back home and fired it up. First impression, “Man this things is beautiful” I loved it, I didn’t have a single doubt that the $1,030 I just spent on a rather expensive phone was worthless. It was far more than worth it. Man, the screen is just beautiful. But as the days passed I realized about a couple of things: Lagginess: The phone was lagging, just straight up lagging. I was okay with that as I knew iOS 8 was a total disaster, but I can’t deal with a brand new phone lagging that was just announced a week ago, let’s not even cover 8.0.1 (First down vote for Apple), Also, Speaker: I can’t watch a video on the iPhone 6 or any iPhone without covering the speaker, bad design, but let’s not focus on that, that’s not a deal breaker. Let’s focus on the real deal: The device and its specs, oh yeah, before I forget… the so well-known Bend-gate issue? Doesn’t bother me. I am not a dumbass and I won’t sit on my phone, if I manage to bend it I will just go to the Apple Store and pay $80 for a replacement or get it replaced.
Besides the device itself and as an Aerospace and Electrical engineer I decided to do my own research and find out what the hell was wrong with my device, if it was really a RAM/hardware issue or straight up software.
RAM: I started with RAM since it is only 1GB of RAM. Apple is playing with us. Man, we are in 2014 a phone with 1GB of RAM at this point is a joke, I am not going to talk about Android here, we all know Android has by far the BEST specs in the market. But here we get the real hardcore Apple fan boys: “This is an Apple device man, we don’t need specs and in Apple devices, we don’t need specs” So what the hell do you need? Spend thousands every year for the same crap? Get a thinner device every year? Apple is really pushing it, this is a joke. I had a discussion with some other really hardcore Apple fan boys the other day on some other forum, and they said that RAM wasn’t necessary at all, that 1GB is perfect (We all know is not, right?) but yet. Whenever the iPhone 6S is announced with 2GB of RAM the same fan boys will go and stand and explain why it is the best decision ever made by Apple and why it makes perfect sense, that they have needed it since “years ago”. Sometimes I don’t understand that people.
Screen: The display pixels does NOT match the rendered pixels by the GPU. The reason for that is the 1080p displays have been available for a long time... cough.. Android cough.. And they are also cheaper and WAY faster to implement than the weird 2240x1200 resolution that the GPU renders at. Probably next year we will see a better resolution at about 2240x1200 to match the internal resolution.
Processor/GPU: Okay Apple.., yeah, you are giving me a “brand new” processor (clocked at the same speed as the A7) but okay it is a new year and it has an “8” at the end (I am so hyped!, Actually I was.. for nothing.) It’s the same iPhone 5S processor with a new number, wonder why Apple didn’t compare the A7 against the A8 now? “It is 55% faster than the original iPhone people!” Now tell me one thing Apple, Who is comparing the original iPhone against the iPhone 5S or iPhone 6 or 6 Plus? No one. But let’s get into the iPhone 6 Plus. This is the biggest error and the worst thing about the iPhone 6 Plus. How dare you use the same A8 processor from a 4.7 inch screen on a 5.5 inch display? That’s a BIG joke. Here is why: The iPhone 6 renders about one million pixels (Oh yes, “whoa!”) but the iPhone 6 Plus renders about THREE million pixels. THREE times more pixels than the iPhone 6 and they used the same processor with the same CPU and Clock speeds? We don’t need it to be faster but the extra TWO million pixels have to come from somewhere. Remember: the A8 is the A7 processor is the same with a new damn name. Nothing new. Don’t tell me the A8x is still in development and that could not be implemented on the iPhone 6 plus at all. I am sure it is going to debut with the iPad Air 2, it could have debuted with the 6 Plus at least.
But don’t forget the A8 is a 64 BIT PROCESSOR! Tell me something, is there any app optimized for the 64 bit chip? None at the moment. And if we ever get those they are going to need a good amount of RAM, 1 GB of RAM is not going to cut it.
If you have an iPhone 6 Plus and want to experience it by yourself:
Take a look at the recently update Modern Combat 5, Frames Per Second are the worse ever and the game lags at times and sometimes you even get crazy and weird animations.
For the science: I was writing a comment on some website the other day on my iPhone 6 Plus, I copied the text I was typing and went to the home screen, opened music started playing some music, went into LinkedIn and looked at about two profiles and took a screenshot, opened messages and sent the text I copied to myself into my iPhone 5, opened two other apps (Apple Store and Clock to activate my alarm) closed them both and went back to Safari to continue my comment. But… OH SURPRISE. The page reloaded. (I was glad I copied the comment)
At this moment I decided to make the same experiment on my iPhone 5, so I did the same of what I did on my 6 Plus on my iPhone 5, opened the same apps on the same order, same time lapse, and I was surprised. The iPhone 5 did NOT reload the website. (Both are on iOS 8.0.2), that only tells me that the iPhone 6 Plus is totally incompetent against the iPhone 5.
Apple just made an iPad 3 all over again, ladies and gentlemen. With bad RAM and a bad Chip (A8) that can’t even handle the damn screen resolution.
Apple won’t understand, Apple won’t give better specs unless we stop buying worthless phones with outdated specs, I can’t wait for Apple to give us iOS 9 and see how the iPhone 6 Plus lags.
Yes, back in the day on the glory days of Apple (iPhone 4 and 4s), Android was crap. Not anymore, Apple is turning out to be the worse and Android is being smarter.
Just my .2 cents. Have a good day.

Re: The iPhone 6 Plus is a JOKE. And here I tell you why.
I enjoy using my device and couldn't give two monkey dingleberries about the spec war.
Selling 10 million iPhones over a 3 day stretch isn't a joke.

Re: The iPhone 6 Plus is a JOKE. And here I tell you why.
Seems like there's a simple solution for you, buy an Android phone.
I'm not having any problems with my 6 plus. If your claims are legitimate then I would say try to restore your phone.

Re: The iPhone 6 Plus is a JOKE. And here I tell you why.
I'm not sure why someone would join an Apple forum, talk about how much they dislike the 6+ and what a joke it is . I really don't understand.. I have NO lagging issues what so ever..games are not lagging. You can't watch a video etc, with out covering the speaker?? Why not?? I've had IPhones for years and this hasn't been a issue for me. Did you read the specs before buying your 6+?? Im sure you did, who wouldn't? You knew the Specs and bought it any way?? Why? If this isn't your first Iphone ever, (which you have a 5 so I guess it's not) why would you buy another Iphone ? The speaker has always been on the bottom as far as I know, if you can't manage watching videos without covering speaker, again why buy the 6+?? You are entitled to your opinion, and you don't like the 6+. Why didn't you return it after a week of use?? Why hold onto the 6+, since it seems you really hate it? I guess what bothers me the most is... WHY did you buy it in the first place??? You knew where the speaker was and has always been. I'm sure you read the specs, and knew it had 1 gig have Ram. Why would anyone buy a mobile phone, with all your perceived faults??You had a return period, but I guess for some unknown reason, you decided to keep a Phone that is a joke. Lol... I do think if I were you, I wouldn't have bought a phone that came out of a box, with so many things I didn't like. What did you expect?? I'm glad their are so many mobile phone choices, we can all find something we like. I think maybe sell your 6+ on eBay or Craigslist. When it sells, and it will, fast, buy a Note 3 or some Android that fits your needs. I have NO idea why someone would buy a IPhone knowing the specs, and then gripe about said specs, speaker etc. I certainly wouldn't have bought a phone where I hated the specs, and speaker placement. Who does that?? It's like me buying a car that only goes 30mph, with no DVD player and then complaining that the car is so slow and I cant listen to my DVDs...IPhones are not for you... Sell it.

Re: The iPhone 6 Plus is a JOKE. And here I tell you why.
OP, you do know that iPhones with the "S" on them have the most significant upgrade in terms of CPU & GPU right?
iPhone 3G vs 3Gs
- 412 Mhz Single-core CPU vs 600Mhz Single-core CPU
- Power VR MBX vs PowerVR SGX535
iPhone 4 vs 4s
- 800Mhz (underclocked) Single core Cortex A8 vs Dual Core 800Mhz Cortex A9
- Power VR SGX535 (Same as 3Gs) vs Power VR SGX543MP2
iPhone 5 vs 5S
- Dual Core 1.3GHz (Arm v7 32 bit) vs Dual Core 1.3GHz (Arm v8 64 bit)
- Power VR SGX543MP3 (same as iPhone 4s just one more core) vs PowerVR G6430
I wouldn't be surprised if the 6+ starts lagging by iOS 10. Imo, if you want an iOS device that probably won't lag for awhile get the iPhones with the 'S' on them.

Re: The iPhone 6 Plus is a JOKE. And here I tell you why.
I'm still waiting for my 6+ to ship to but, but that ram issue is something I experienced on my iPad AIR.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem too?
Sometimes going from safari to photos app to a photo editing app, then back to safari causes safari to refresh the page.

Re: The iPhone 6 Plus is a JOKE. And here I tell you why.
1) Your phone does NOT emphatically tell you everything there is to know about ALL iPhones in existence. You say you're an aerospace/electrical engineer; you should know this. You KNOW that something as complicated as a mini computer that you bought, fully aware of ALL the specs, can never be the same over the ensemble. So please, don't insult your education by claiming as such.
2) You had the five which also has speakers on the bottom. You didn't figure this out before hand? Seriously?
3) DO NOT EVER, and I mean EVER, tell me that us "fanboys" are dumb by thinking we do not know phones with bigger screens or more ram exist. I ******* go through this with every android fanboy and if you couldn't tell it drives me insane. I'm a physicist and I'm not ******* dumb. Apple users are not generally dumb. The same intelligence bell curve is shared with fans of both devices. Do not go there that we are going to say that 2GB is awesome and revolutionary when it is released. You show your general ignorance when you say that.
4) Once again ******* yes, Android screens are already bigger. We aren't ******* dumb. Question: how do you know the display pixels do not match the rendered pixels? Could it be that the apps aren't optimized to the resolution and everything is blown up for now? If there are cheaper and more efficient ways to do it then apple would have jumped on it to make even more money. Question: why did they go with your assertion then? Not only that but what evidence do you have?
5) What evidence do you have to say that the 5S processor is the same? And yes, there are speed differences between the two from reports. They are not hard to find on Google. You're claiming to be an engineer yet are making claims NOT backed by any evidence WHATSOEVER. Further on this supposedly lack of more processor speed needed for the 6 plus, how do you explain power saving mode for Android? It clocks everything down and yet it runs the OS STILL fine(for an android). You're making a lot of claims yet you're not an expert; you're not a computer engineer.
6) Again you are making claims with ANY amount of evidence. Why must 64bit apps run with a certain amount of memory? Yes, there are apps optimized and rewritten in 64-bit code: infinity blade 3, call of duty: strike team, garage band...just Google them. You're honestly losing a lot of credibility here if you even had any to begin with. As for your memory issue, I opened tapatalk, instagram, Facebook, kindle, Pineterest, YouTube, settings and safari and look and behold this post didn't reload nor the comment I started on Facebook on safari didn't reload or the comment I started on the Facebook app I started didn't reload, or the YouTube search I started didn't reload.
You're basing your device on every single iphone 6 Plus which is flawed from the start. That is not science, that is arrogance. You did not have any evidence for any of the stuff you spouted.
This is a troll post wrapped in a costume of fake science with no evidence to back up your claims.

One of the longest....and most boring troll posts I've seen. The part I find the funniest is where he claims to be an "aerospace and electrical engineer "...as if that even remotely matters or anyone cares. This guy is an Android troll to the hundredth degree.

Re: The iPhone 6 Plus is a JOKE. And here I tell you why.
That was a long winded post, but not without some good points. At this point Apple should be using more RAM and larger screens with more pixels take more processing power.
I just came from the top of the line LG G3. 3GB of RAM and a 4k display. Quad core processor clocked at 2.5 if I remember right. The reality is, the phone lagged badly. Even some basic tasks sometimes lagged.
It comes down to the combination of software and hardware and no one does that better than Apple. I don't have any lag on my 6 Plus and I am very happy. I do think that Apple screwed up with 8.01 and should have released all the features advertised at the same time.
The good news for the OP is that the resale market is strong for the 6 plus.
The end.

The iPhone 6 Plus is a JOKE. And here I tell you why.
I actually agree to some extent. It should really be equipped with 2 GB of ram. And yes my device lags sometimes where my 5S didn't . Hate the constant refreshing in Chrome and Safari whenever you opened some other apps between. Besides that I love my Plus after using Galaxy S5, HTC M8 and 5S

Re: The iPhone 6 Plus is a JOKE. And here I tell you why.
One final thought on this subject.
The fact that the OP bought a phone that he now calls a joke is hilarious. As an "aerospace and electrical engineer", you would think that he did extensive research prior to purchasing a $1000 phone. Apparently, you would be wrong. How does that old adage go? Something to the effect of "a fool and his money are soon parted".

How long did it take you to type all of this???

Re: The iPhone 6 Plus is a JOKE. And here I tell you why.
From what I gather, the OP went out and bought a device without researching to see if the device will meet his needs. Well, lesson learned. Nobody is going to get mad at you for saying that the iPhone 6 Plus is a joke because you are entitled to your opinion. Still, you are to blame because you should have done your homework before making the purchase. With that in mind, I'm looking forward to the day that I buy my iPhone 6 Plus. My iPhone 5 doesn't lag with iOS 8.1 beta 2 so I highly doubt I'll experience any lag with the 6 Plus, but in case I do, I know how to have iTunes install a fresh copy of the operating system. Just my 2¢. :)

OP - send your resume to Anandtech - I heard they are looking
I love Anandtech! And wouldn't want this whinny biased kid working for them.

I consider the OP's post to be 100% drive-by drivel. He’s gone, and he ain’t never coming back. He’s full of BS and won’t be able to defend his statements or his credibility as an "aeronautical and electrical engineer".

CNET would be a better choice. Probably the most anti-Apple site around aside from Android Central.

Re: The iPhone 6 Plus is a JOKE. And here I tell you why.
I switched from Android phone to iPhone because I like the simplicity and user experience on the iPhone. I don't care about specs. People can compare specs to their death but it is really pointless. In my humble opinion, it is the user experience that counts. Android phones are designed by engineers. And iPhones are engineered by designers. Plain and simple.

But as the days passed I realized about a couple of things:
Lagginess: The phone was lagging, just straight up lagging. I was okay with that as I knew iOS 8 was a total disaster, but I can’t deal with a brand new phone lagging that was just announced a week ago, let’s not even cover 8.0.1 (First down vote for Apple), Also,
Speaker: I can’t watch a video on the iPhone 6 or any iPhone without covering the speaker, bad design, but let’s not focus on that, that’s not a deal breaker.
I think you should make your own phone Mr. Aerospace/Electrical Engineer. I'll be waiting with bated breath.

No engineer has that much time on their hands to sit around and bash a perfectly good phone, a great phone even, as a joke.
And if I'm not mistaken, the galaxy s5 has two gb of ram and guess what, touchwiz needs 1.4 just to run its overloaded self (try opening more than three apps on that phone, which legit is a joke

Re: The iPhone 6 Plus is a JOKE. And here I tell you why.
I'm a software engineer for one of the big name tech companies, and I have owned most if not all of the android flagships of the last 2-3 years. 1 gig of ram may not of been the best choice , and I get your frustration, but let's be realistic. All of the android flagships lag a hell of allot more than any iphone I have ever used. I most recently switch from the G3 with 3 gig of ram, quad core, blah blah blah and that thing just doesn't compare to the 6 plus performance wise. Apple software is better optimized and does not need the same amount of ram to accomplish simple tasks.
Guess you could go to android for specs and enjoy a world of FC's and lag all over the place. I have owned the following phones in the last year.
LG G2
LG G3
HTC One M7
Iphone 6 Plus
Iphone 6
Iphone 5s
Note 3
Nexus 5
Moto X (first version)
The 6 performs better than all the others, the 6 plus is a close second followed by the LG G2 (after it is rooted and tweaked) , I find that the 6 plus occasional lag goes away if you disable the screen rotation. Honestly I would of never noticed it if I didn't use the 6 for 2 weeks before swapping for the 6 plus.

Re: The iPhone 6 Plus is a JOKE. And here I tell you why.
I noticed a little lag when I first took it out of the box, once I had it set up the lag almost completely disappeared. Every once in a while I will notice a slight stutter here or there (Primarily during screen rotation) however no deal breakers. I think that apple did a fantastic job and I am fine with the fact that it only has 1 gig of ram. I had the opportunity to play with my 6 plus and a note 4 at best buy and my 6 plus was much more fluid than the note 4. However I did like the screen on the note 4 ;-) not better, just different. I hope the OP found a resolution that works for him/her. And to the rest of us, I hope you are enjoying your 6 plus as much as I am.

Re: The iPhone 6 Plus is a JOKE. And here I tell you why.
Of course, this is an Apple Forum. I expected this and I knew this could happen, all I wanted was the people on this forum to know and understand what is going on, and how Apple laughs at us.
For those wondering how much time did it took me to write this.. Not even half an hour. Yesterday right after eating dinner and instead of reading the news at Yahoo or sit outside with my iPad reading a book, I decided to look into it and write this opinion after i did my research for a couple of days.
Yes, I did camp out the Apple Store to buy an iPhone, I have used an iPhone since the 3GS, first time I ever camped out because I was on vacation for a week and wanted to feel the "Experience". as I said, it was wonderful.
Surprisingly, the same exact thing happened when I talked about fuel efficiency on a Aerospace forum, and how our company stops us from making airplanes lighter and RR (Rolls Royce) which is our primary engine manufacturer wont allow us and wont give us a budget to use new technologies on its engines. I wanted to let them know what was going on and how and why airplane tickets are more expensive than ever.
I got the same replies "Well dude, just work with Airbus!, for sure you can make the whale A380 more fuel efficient." That was not my point either, as I work for the competition of Airbus.
As an example: If we manufacture an Airplane that is bigger and it uses the same engines used on a previous model and just use them on the new airfoil NO company will buy it. Ex. Boeing 737-100 and 737-200, No company bought the 737-200. As it was bigger, less fuel efficient and used the same engines. Yeah yeah, I know I will get the: "That is not an Airplane man! this is a phone!, Does not matter, specs apply everywhere. (Or probably it is just me that I was thought since college that specs is what matters the most.)
The same with Apple, they are giving same specs just a new design, the phone is bigger and as a result it needs more resources and the phone just cant handle it all, therefore lag is present and iOS will probably become unusable on the 6 Plus whenever we get iOS 11.
I did not post this for attention, I have a family and a life like all of you. All I wanted is you guys to open your eyes and know what you are buying. This is why Apple makes outdated phones and sells them like it is the hottest thing ever, when it is not.
This was not a post for me to move to Android. No, in fact I have a Galaxy S5, and it lags every time. (Work issued phone) But I know Android has a tendency to lag, so it is not a big deal. But not the iPhone, I cant deal with an iPhone that was announced a month ago and is not smooth.
This is why Apple will never step up, this is why we will not develop more fuel efficient airplanes. Because people will still fly in them, Apple wont add specs because people will keep buying their iPhone like hungry dogs and Apple knows it.
I also forgot to mention on the post: The iPhone 6 is by far better than the iPhone 6 Plus. It can handle the screen and the specs are I think perfectly for the screen. But not the 6 Plus. Look at the iPad 3, Look at the iPad Mini with Retina Display. Apple makes mistakes and they made another one, once again.
In case someone was wondering, I will keep my iPhone 6 Plus, I love the phone and the design is something that is out of the ordinary, but what is inside is what bothers me and some of my colleagues as well.
Have a good day.

The iPhone 6 Plus is a JOKE. And here I tell you why.
You still do not have a valid complaint because you chose to buy the device. You have or had the opportunity to return it for a refund, but by your own admission, you're opting to keep the very device that you called "a joke". That, in and of itself, renders the point you are attempting to make utterly pointless, in my opinion...:)...Having said that, enjoy your iPhone 6 Plus.

Re: The iPhone 6 Plus is a JOKE. And here I tell you why.
Iphone 6 Plus does everything I want it to do and I'm a sucker for Itunes integration. Soooo. . .I don't see the problem. :D
-
Re: The iPhone 6 Plus is a JOKE. And here I tell you why.
Your logic is flawed. Consider that, every year, the new iPhone is one of the fastest, if not the fastest phones on the market. Specs be damned.
Apply that to your airplane engine example. If every year, the new engines were the most fuel efficient on the market, what does it matter if they're using the best technology and materials?
Yes, Apple could use more ram and a higher clocked quad core processor and participate in the spec war... But considering they're always at the front of the pack in terms of performance, and despite your experiences, for most people, the OS experience has always been smooth, what would be the point?
Example: if you put two devices in front of me: one is running some 3.4gHz 8-core processor and 16gb of ram and has a 4k display and 50mp camera... And the other is a 1.0gHz single core, with 1gb of ram, a 720p screen, and 5mp camera, based on specs, you'd choose the first device, yes? But what if the second device was just as fast and smooth or even faster, and because of image processing takes just as good of a picture? What do all the specs matter now? Does the beefy specs on paper make you sleep better at night? Because me? Me, I'd be mad at my spec warrior phone that gets slapped around by an "inferior" device.
That's like a 5'2" 140lbs guy jumping in the ring with a 6'0" 200lbs heavy weight boxer and going toe to toe, round after round... Who should feel worse? The small guy with the weaker stats? Or the big guy who should easily win, but doesn't?

First of all, man, that's too long of a BS essay just for a darn phone, you have way too much free time for an " Aerospace Engineer" I switched from Android to iOS, and I like iPhone 6, that's all I care about. I'm fortunate enough to drop it and buy new one any time I stop liking it, and without complaining about it here. Lol

Re: The iPhone 6 Plus is a JOKE. And here I tell you why.
I kind of agree with OP on some points. But as said by others, iPhone 6+ is no slouch. It is not a laggy device neither feels slow as Android. Maybe you just need to restore as fresh and lock the auto-rotation. Maybe that will help you cool off. Maybe such a simple thing will make your phone work flawless, as it does for others. We here love iPhones and we are not stupid. When I'll think that my iPhone needs bigger processor and larger ram which Apple is not providing, I'll switch. But this is not going to happen anytime soon if Apple does its job like its doing now. :) If you think Apple lacks ram, get another smartphone with 2,3 Gigs of ram and maybe that will make you happy. Please stop whining and enjoy your phone for once.

I sir, salute you for your amazing examples. :)

The iPhone 6 Plus is a JOKE. And here I tell you why.
I'm going to answer this not as an "fanboy", nor as someone that is against Apple. I'll respond only with opinions and information about the actual devices. Too many approaches are based on having to stand behind a device or bash it, which is silly.
Anyway, I've had the iPhone 3G, iPhone 4, iPad 3, iPhone 5, iPhone 5s and now the 6+. The one thing that I've loved about Apple devices that has kept me coming back for more is that they do what they do well. They do not need numbers to back up their performance, and they routinely outperform other devices that at first glance and on paper should blow them away easily. Here are my experiences, likes/dislikes and concerns with each of the devices.
3G : I'll spend the least amount of time on this one because it is the oldest device. My first iOS device and I was very impressed. The operation was fluent and reliable, I loved the App Store and the layout of ios.
Iphone 4 : from the time I bought it, it basically functioned just as well as the time which I stopped using it. Regardless of specs, etc, the device ran smoothly. The retina display, although not nearly the same display quality that we have now, was incredible at the time of the release and was ahead of its time.
Iphone 5: it really improved everything from the previous iPhone and did it all better. Buttery smooth from the moment of purchase up until I stopped using it nearly 2 years later. Update after update, there were small bugs, but for the most part, this thing was built to last.
iPad 3 : my first and only venture into iPad territory. The first one with retina display. From the moment I bought it, although I loved the larger screen (which brought me in) and retina display, quite simply it lagged. Pulling up the App Store, loading apps.....it lagged. Speaking to Apple reps, supposedly a software update would fix it in the near future, so I stuck with it. Several months later (not the usual year), they released the new iPad with retina display, which basically took the place of this one ! The iPad 3 was discontinued and basically forgotten. I contacted Apple and there was nothing they could do about the $850 I just spent on it to upgrade me to the new iPad 4. They could offer a few hundred dollars to recycle it. After each iOS update that followed, it got slows and slower. It not takes several seconds to load up a simple program. All in all, it's my own fault that I did not wait, but who would have thought a new model would be released just several months after this one to correct the problems which Apple would not really admit to having ? The processor/RAM was not fully capable of supporting its new retina display. The iPad 4 beefed that up and made it capable
iPhone 5s : quite simply, all that the iPhone did, but better, Again, having 0 issues with the 5, the release of the 5s was not a "fix" to the 5, but merely just a refresh. Anyone with a 5 should not feel like their device is getting replaced by this, but just the usual annual update. Fingerprint reader, nicer camera, better processor. However, the 5 was still VERY VERY capable of running just about anything without any lag.
iPhone 6+ : here is the most controversial one I guess. First and foremost, I love the increased size. I love the display (quite simply, it's beautiful). That being said, from the moment of purchase and restoring it from backup, it lagged. After doing an iOS restore through iTunes, it still lags. I enjoy the phone and all that it offers, however quite honestly I am a bit afraid that it could be another iPad 3 situation, though maybe not as extreme. From experience as you see with all of my purchased iOS devices, they all ran perfectly out of box except 2, the iPad 3 and iPhone 6+. having decided to keep the 6+ and not swap it or wait for the 6+s, I can only blame myself should it be hardware that is causing this lag and not software. Looking at it with a completely open mind, the fact that it runs the same processor with the same amount of RAM for a much bigger screen, is concerning and could very well be a reason for this lag. Some of the crashes I would think could be attributed to iOS software issues. But right now, my iPhone 5 and 5s both run considerably quicker than my iPhone 6s. The 5 still is running iOS 7 and the 5s is running iOS 8 . The very fact that the 5s took in iOS 8 without any lag whatsoever and the 6+ has considerable lag is without a doubt a concern.
I am enjoying the phone, however there is that huge elephant in the room that I can't really ignore. I hope it really gets ironed out. If it doesn't, I can't blame anyone but myself anyway! Although I do wonder why when releasing devices with a better screen, why Apple would not know by now that they have to beef up specs to support it as in given examples. From experience, aside from the iPad 3 and iPhone 6+, each iPhone release has ran out of the box better than the one before it. This is putting bendgate and hair gate aside, because I think they are loads of ****. This is entirely hardware concerns in my eyes. I think after a while, we just get used to the speed of our devices. However, being able to use my iPhone's released years before this one and having them run quicker in virtually everything I can test, it is pretty frustrating. OP, I do wonder though, have you returned the 6+? If not, why?

Re: The iPhone 6 Plus is a JOKE. And here I tell you why.
I'm not experiencing any of the problems you mention. Also, you should be aware that apps which have not been optimized for the 6 Plus are scaled. This is not an issue of hardware, quite the opposite, it is an intentional screen scaling implementation. I do not have a problem with volume either. On the 5s I did but only after a years worth of use in a very dusty environment. Occasionally I clean the speakers on the 5s and can hear them just fine. With the 6 Plus I purchased a case which helps prevent dust getting into my phone (Pelican Voyager) which I love. As for the rest of your claims I find evidence of the contrary and nothing to support your "testing". Should you be brazen enough to post again within this forum please attempt to convey your opinions in an appropriate manner and site your facts with references, links, etc.

Wow you guys need to calm down. He is just expressing his opinion. I'm sure the plus specs is more than enough for most people. But I do agree with him that it should have came with better specs and after all it's $100 more than the 6. For most non-technical people this will not be an issue. Here is a good analysis of the FPS:

I am definitely an Apple fan boy but it doesn't mean I have to agree with every Apple's decision.

The iPhone 6 Plus is a JOKE. And here I tell you why.
I don't really see where 2 gb of ram will help when it phones already give ppl the smoothest experience ever on a mobile device. It's like a pc, going from 8 to 16 GB ram just makes ppl feel better. It doesn't make the pc faster *unless you open tons of programs which is pointless to run in the background on mobile device unless directly specified to*.
I find the OP post mostly a mute point. I enjoy both platforms but I absolutely love the 6plus. It's soooo much faster and feels great in have and in-use.
On a size note of performance the 6plus is still faster.

The iPhone 6 Plus is a JOKE. And here I tell you why.
I agree with the op for most of what he says. Not the joke part of course.
But here's the thing. I kinda loved the iPad 3 for the year I had it. It was a killer screen for the time. And so is the iPhone plus...compared to previous iPhones. It only has to last another 11 months. Then I get the S version.
Back to specs, yes they're important to me. I won't brush that aside and deny that. But the only thing I can do is wait for Apple to improve it.
Because going to an oem provided bloatware over android special isn't really an option. And so bringing up what any oem android makers specs is just meaningless to me. It takes more to run that bloat and still have it lag much more than any year old iPhone. That's the real joke.
More ram would be great for the plus. A screen running the resolution it actually renders at would be great. I look forward to it. But that isn't the iPhone 6 Plus. I guess I'll just have to struggle along with the iPhone boasting the best screen its ever had along with killer battery life and camera.
The lag is there in spots though I doubt many notice it. The refreshing does get annoying. But I accepted that during the trial period as the larger, high quality screen just trumped it.
Fwiw, the iPad mini wins the award for slow imo. The iPad 3 at least had payoff via the first large high res tablet screen. But really whatcha going to do? Complain to apple? Start a revolt? Good luck. This isn't anything new. Apple caters to mainstream. Apple loves their profit margin. It's something techies have long accepted.

Agreed. While I love Apple products and have purchased so many of them, when someone has a point and find parts of it to be true, it's ok to admit that no device is perfect. For the most part, I have had nothing but awesome experiences with my Apple products. However, for the iPad 3 and quite possibly the the 6+ now (though not to that extent), it might be a less than perfect experience. I think anyone paying hundreds to close to 1,000 dollars for a product should expect the item to perform better than the model before it, especially from a company like Apple. There are so so many Android phones that are pushed out so that there will be several "less than amazing" phones for every one that is amazing. Apple released an update to it's phones just once per year, with these major updates every 2 years. While anyone bashing everything that Apple does is out of their mind, anyone that is ok with Apple's top of the line phone running slower than models 1-2 generations before it are as well!
-
Re: The iPhone 6 Plus is a JOKE. And here I tell you why.
So OP you spent a whole half hour away from yahoo news (you must be important if you read yahoo news) to rip the iPhone 6 plus apart only to post later about your company and other forums and again how important you are to say you're going to keep it? If I had this many gripes about a phone I'd be shopping elsewhere.
Also. We get that you're important and do awesome important things. So can we talk about phones again? Thanks.

Re: The iPhone 6 Plus is a JOKE. And here I tell you why.
Being completely honest, this device doesn't feel fast to me and has strange lag in funky areas. I love the device but yeah....
But this is basically a big Iphone (with some improvements) and if anyone was expecting anything more then i dunno man.

The iPhone 6 Plus is a JOKE. And here I tell you why.
What's funny, I have no complaints with the speed of my 5C, nor have I truthfully noticed any lag.
So I can only imagine what the speed of the 6 will be with the better chip.
At any rate, upgrade time is May, I'll look at the iPhone 6, and check out what Android has to offer.
And I'll make the choice that best fits my needs. [emoji4]

Re: The iPhone 6 Plus is a JOKE. And here I tell you why.
I don't understand the complaint about the lag. One of the things that I never understood about Android devices was that they came with unbelievable specs, but always lagged unless it was a Nexus device which usually didn't have the specs of the other devices with manufacturer skins. But my iOS devices were always smooth or at least smoother than any Android device that I have ever used. So from that we can conclude that it isn't about the specs. Knowing that, why are we still having these discussions about the specs of the iPhone? We know it doesn't really matter.

I want to know where these ppl think that a ip6+ is laggy? Must have restored from a backup. It's not slow or lags at all.... My note 3 had lag, my 4s has lag with 8.0 and my previous androids all had lots of lag. It may "feel" slower HC of the bigger screen but there is 0 lag. Not to mention awesome battery life

Well honestly I think it came on strong with the title stating that the phone is a "joke". Of course it'll get bashed. But as said in my post, I am not one of those people who came from another brand's devices suddenly to the iPhone. I've owned 5 iOS devices before this and none other than the iPad 3 have been so laggy. I've tested the ones in the store a couple days ago.....same thing. Are they lagging to the point where it is unfunctional? No, not at all. But when I compare my iPhone 5 running iOS 7 and my iPhone 5s running iOS 8 and both run much faster (I'm not just talking apps, I mean on regular iOS screens and things such as hitting the home button twice, loading messages, clicking on icons and using Safari), then something is clearly a bit wrong here. Again, I could be wrong and it could be all software problems. However, given the situation with the iPad 3 that I've had, and the constant reassurance that it's probably just software issues, followed by Apple discontinuing the product just several months later to replace it with the same iPad yet with faster processor to support the better display, I think it's possible they've done it again.....to a lesser degree. I do enjoy the phone and as I've said, it is fully functional.....but to pretend that there is no lag when I can clearly prove to anyone that there is, as I did even with the store's device, then it's just being able to live with it. I will as well, but it's hard to ignore or push it to the curb. Bendgate is ridiculous. This really isn't, it's just reality.....not a "it could happen under extreme conditions" kind of thing

And I can see your point to a certain extent. I certainly don't have a 6 plus, at least not yet. Still waiting for mine to be shipped. But I have played around with one in the store a few times and I haven't noticed any lag on them. They seemed to be just as snappy as any other iOS device I have ever used. Again, maybe it's because I have used many Android devices. You don't know lag until you use a skinned Android device.

Re: The iPhone 6 Plus is a JOKE. And here I tell you why.
Doctorwaynewilliams, I agree. I've played with many android phones and notice significant lag, especially as they get older and held down with some apps and programs. iPhones as a whole are much less laggy than android. My take is not one of Apple vs android, but Apples vs apples (pun intended). I intend to stick with Apple devices, so altogether I feel I do offer a real opinion on them. I still have many of my older iPhones also. The 6+ moves faster than the iPhone 4, but once past there and into the iPhone 5, it runs slower doing usual day to day activities on the phone. I'm holding out hope for improvement with software updates though honestly :)

Yeah, I think that with some updates that the lag you see may be taken care of.

It wasn't a good idea to post it here either..
Let's start from the beginning. The OP didn't title the thread "My iPhone 6 Plus is a joke..." He titled it, "The iPhone 6 Plus is a joke...". See the difference? He went on to say how he stood in line to get the device, etcetera, and then in typical fashion, he threw the first punch:
But here we get the real hardcore Apple fan boys: “This is an Apple device man, we don’t need specs and in Apple devices, we don’t need specs” So what the hell do you need? Spend thousands every year for the same crap? Get a thinner device every year? Apple is really pushing it, this is a joke.
It's one thing to critique the product, but when that critique expands into the realm of ridiculing those who enjoy the critiqued product then expect those people to respond with a critique of their own. My personal critique of the OP's post is this: Why keep a device that you believe to be insufficient? With so many people waiting to buy the iPhone 6/6 Plus, he shouldn't have any problems selling it and recouping the money he spent for it. It's like ordering a sprite and then complaining about the taste, and when the waitress offer to bring you a different drink, you decline but continue complaining about the taste of the Sprite. #smh

Re: The iPhone 6 Plus is a JOKE. And here I tell you why.
There is nothing wrong with the OP expressing his opinion. The title of the thread is maybe a little strong and his post a little long. Do not make the debate personal. Discuss the topic, not the members posting in the thread.

In my opinion if you're just going to come here and complain about a device than yes you are going to get hammered.
If you have a legitimate issue then you will get help.

I think it's a legit complaint. But over the top in presentation is all. Top of line macs get you choices of processor, ran, etc.
I'd like to see Apple focusing more on the plus. Not one processor runs them all and they all only need 1gb of ram. Do we see 8gb of ram in 15" mbp retina? Or i5 dual core processors in them?
Apple to me is about optimizing each device for its software. I wouldn't say the iPhone plus is that right now. I had no problem recommending the 5S as a long term phone. The 6 is probably that as well. But not the Plus.
The S version Plus could be quad core. Bump the ram. Give it a screen res of 2208x1242. And everyone lives happily ever after. That would be the long term version.
And again I'm fine with the current plus especially knowing I will upgrade it within a year. But if I was independently reviewing it, I'd have to knock off some points.

Please seek professional help. You need to be on meds. If you already are, you need to switch meds.

I have occasionally seen a little stutter with screen rotation, but it has only happened a handful of times in the last 2 weeks.
While it can be annoying, everything else on the 6+ has been great, maybe a later update will fix it. Even if it's not fixed I will still be perfectly happy with my 6+.

Just a bit, yeah.

Given your history with iPhones, I'm surprised that you were so quick to damn the model instead of looking at it as a more local issue. Maybe you got a bad phone. Did you restore a backup from a previous phone? If so, maybe it brought some unhappiness along with it. Did you try restoring the phone from scratch through iTunes? Did you bring it back to an Apple Store for troubleshooting and possibly a replacement before you headed off to the internet to scorch the entire line?
It just seems to me that if your issues were common, there'd be a great many more posts and news about it. Since that's not happening, the most logical explanation is that the problems you're seeing are local to your phone.

All it is going to do is create more fragmentation than we're starting to experience now. Imagine having 3GB of ram on a Plus as opposed to 1GB of ram on a cheaper version of the Plus. Developer nightmare.
