I've heard rumors that the 6 Plus might not even be in stock on launch day at AT&T stores? Anybody here this? You would think that after years of doing this Apple would finally have enough in stock for everybody.

I don't know for sure about AT&T, but when I went to Best Buy last Friday to place my pre-order, they were flat out not taking orders for the iPhone 6 Plus, full stop. So there seems to be at least some early indication that the 6+ model will be in short supply all around come Friday. I'd imagine that would apply to carrier stores as well.

I think the only decent chance you have of getting a 6+ on Friday is to get to an Apple Store, and get there early. They're the only ones to likely have any decent amount of stock. I'm planning on doing my first ever camp out, so we'll see how it goes.

Problem is, my nearest Apple Store is almost 1,000 miles away.

In that case, all you can do is to get in line at an AT&T store as early as possible and hope for the best. Other than Apple stores themselves, I would guess an official carrier store would be your best shot at getting one. I think their stock of the 6+ is going to be especially constrained, but you might get lucky.

    Good luck!

It has nothing to do with "after years of doing this". Materials are finite. I'm pretty sure they want a device in everyone hands and will be working like crazy over the next few months to do so. But there's no way anyone can make phones if the parts aren't ready.

I think that's what i'm going to have to do. Hopefully they have a white one!

UPDATE: Just called my AT&T Store and they will not have any iPhone 6 Plus models for 35-40 days. They will have iPhone 6 on launch day though.

I'm hearing the same story from other carrier stores too. Sprint is not expecting to get ANY for 4-6 weeks. I called Verizon and was told similar stories - mid to late October. If you want a 6 you can walk in and get on on the 19th most likely (and preorders are available too for on or around the 19th) but a 6+ is Apple Store or bust at this point, looks like. They sold like hotcakes and are still doing so.

I'm on the fence. I really want a 6+ and CAN wait (it's not like my 5 is limping too bad) so I figure I'm gonna go big or go home and just wait until Halloween.

This was my thinking for a bit. But then again, I have my iPad for a big screen iOS device. I'm starting to think 4.7 will be enough. Unless that's just me being in a hurry and wanting a new iPhone and trying to justify it. Ha!

with the 4 million pre-orders over the weekend, I would doubt it if any AT&T stores would get any iPhone 6 Plus 64 or 128Gb. There will be 16gb units. All this based on my personal guess.

Nevermind, if you go to Pre-Order at AT&T make sure you pay attention to what you pre-order, they split the 16GB from the 64GB & 128GB models so there are (2) Iphone 6 and (2) Iphone 6 Plus's to order from. Still showing 11-2 to 11-27 for a ship date so I will ride it out this week. Still think stores will get maybe 1 6 Plus if we are lucky.

I think you are right on. Since Apple made less 6+ units, from a business standpoint, they should try to cover all the preorders first and not to put the 6+ with large storage in the stores.

Talked to one store manager today. His exact words: "it’s aways a crapshoot". He said that he didn’t expect anything but space gray at his store, and probably very few 6 Plus phones. I don’t mean to state with any certainty - this is anecdotal at best. YMMV.

I checked with my local Walmart and he mentioned they would be receiving the 6 and 6+ but 16gb storage only.

Odd but I guess users still think 16GB is enough or is it that they didn't offer a 32GB version. The prices are inline so one would think people would jump at at 64GB at the lower price.

I suspect not many people pre-ordered for the 16GB model. So they are keeping all the 64 GB and 128 GB models to fill the pre-orders first, and leave the leftover to the stores. I sure hope so.
