It was stated that the A8 processor is 50% more energy efficient. Okay...Does anyone think that it equates to a longer battery charge?

Based on Apple's posted numbers, yes.

But remember some of the battery will be used to drive the larger displays.

This may seem like a knock at Apple, but I don't mean it to be...

50% more energy efficiency for doing essentially the same thing with a few feature set tweaks will definitely lead to better battery life...iOS 8 is not different enough from iOS 7 to call for any substantial energy changes, so yes, absolutely, the battery will last longer.

Let's hope so. Or else Apple is going to face some serious backlash.
