Why did the update to os9 cause loss of recents?

Why dd update to os9 cause loss of recents

iphone 5S, updated to os9 and the phone dumped a month of recents (Phone/recents page) It shows the last 7 days, then skips to 2/5/16 contacts. Is there a setting that can make it show the most recent 100 or so instead like it did before apple fixed a perfectly good feature and made it effectively unreliable and mostly useless?

As far as I know, there's no way to change the default. Another choice would be to check your cell account online to get that info. Good Luck
