First experience with Apple product, but have anti-virus protection on laptop, desktop and three tablets. Is AV protection necessary for IPhone 5s 32GB?

    Short answer, no.

Basically, i'm not even sure if virus scanning apps are available for the iPhone as in the eight years i've owned an iteration of iPhone, i've never looked. Even if they were available, the phone is locked down pretty tight so I doubt they would have the access to actually clean anything anyway.

And because the phone is locked down pretty tight, it would take a gargantuan effort to actually get a virus on the iPhone in the first place, by all accounts.
