why does my iphone5s touchscreen not work?

for some reason today my iphone 5s screen is not responding to my touch. Im pretty sure the screen is not damaged because I am using assistive touch and this opens when selected, its just everything else that's not responding. I can only unlock my phone by asking siri to take me to an app but once phone is unlocked nothing works. Another issue I have is the sleep/wake button does not work (hence the assistive touch) so I cant turn my phone off. Any ideas on how I can resolve this?

Make a Genius Bar appointment with the nearest Apple Store and have them diagnose the problem for you. The problem could be a loose connection or it corrupted setting, but none of us here can say for certain, in my opinion.
