My iPhone 5s sounds have stopped no ring, no ding, etc. What could the problem be?

iPhone 5s - the sounds have stopped; no ring, no ding, etc.

The sounds stopped after our wifi was out for a day. Attempts to reset the settings have not been successful.

1. Check the mute switch on the side of the device.
2. Check the volume buttons.
3. Make sure that the Do Not Disturb option hasn't been enabled.
