I fix roughly 30 phones a month and a couple times i've had this problem with screen replacements on the 5s. I assume it is board damage from mixing up screws but i've also seen that when this happens it is usually visible, and i have never been able to see any visible damage. I've also tried part replacement with battery and charging ports and tried unplugging things one by one to see if thats the problem with no luck. Any ideas besides what i've tried? I hate encountering problems like these that I can't fix.

Sounds like one of those evil, intermittent hardware issues that are difficult to fix...
