FaceTime seem to only work in landscape mode on my iPhone 5S. Why?

on my 5s when on face time I have two black bars and the video is in landscape mode.
is there some where to change it back to full screen

Have you tried going to Settings - General - Reset and then select "Reset All Settings"?

got it the phone camera was in video mode change that to picture and it seems to be find
