So I took a pic of my dog. The photo, as displayed in the photos app looks washed out. However, as soon as I open it in something like photo toaster it looks far better. Is it just that these other apps do some basic correction upon open?

I haven't got photo toaster so I can't speak for it. I use Photoshop Express or the basic editor on the iPhone or on Instagram.

What does the description of the app say? Is there a button to accept edits?

I don't mind the way it looks in photo toaster. And I will probably do edits anyways. I was just wondering if there is anything wrong with the native app on the iphone.

Here's screen shots from the native app and then photo toaster. Remember, I'm just displaying the same photo both times. I have not performed edits (unless toaster is doing some automatically).

That is odd. Do you have the camera set on a different filter than "none"? It looks like a light issue, but should still be there in photo toaster without any edits.

You may have your camera preset on "Process" or "instant". Either may cause that in that lighting.

You guys are absolutely right. I think the filter was wrongly set. Here's another similar photo with proper (no) filter and it looks right.

    Thanks!
