The Iphone 5S came out almost a year ago today and what I find compelling is that it is still relevant today and fast compared to others. The Samsung Galaxy s4 is "old" as well as the HTC one and all Blackberry devices and remarkably the Iphone 5s (16gb) on Ebay (used) is going for well over $400.00 and that I find amazing. On YouTube I checked out several browser speed test vs the Samsung galaxy s5 and in most cases the iphone 5s came out on top.

The iPhone 4 and 4S are still relevant...Apple still SELLS the iPhone 4S. Of course the 5S is relevant, and it will be relevant for about 2-3 years when Apple outgrows the device with iOS features and functions.

iPhones released a year ago are never irrelevant, just not the flagship when the year ends.

Most devices continue to be relevant after a year, they're just not pushed as hard because they're no longer the flagship device for their respective company.

iPhone 4s is irrelevant because it's a 3.5 inch screen and 3G speeds, today's technology is 4G LTE data speeds.

Apple products seem to keep their value longer, especially since they only usually release one product a year. Not to mention speed has a lot to do with optimization, and with the 64bit chip and also apple controlling everything when it comes to phone and software, they can tweak it to work great with their devices. Samsung and others rely on other code as their base and then modify it from there.

The 5s will probably be the most future-proofed iPhone ever. It has a 64-bit chip, so when it's time to jump to full 64-bit mobile computing, it'll be ready. It's still going to remain relevant for a loooong time to come.

Not really, especially when you can get a 5C for the same price on contract now.

Speaking only for myself, but the iPhone 5s will be relevant at least thru November 2015 because that is the minimum time I will be using mine. pr1nce puts it perfectly, it is an awesome device.

Great point. I know a lot of folks that still use the 4s and are content with it. Several of my family members use 5c phones and they are very happy with them. One of the good things about Apple is their devices do not quickly become obsolete.

Exactly, the 5C is probably as low as anybody should be purchasing at this point to get the most out of apps

As soon as the 6 comes out, the lowest phone I would buy is the 5s, not the 5c. I don't like the feeling of having the lowest model of iPhone and knowing that I might not get more than 1-2 more years of software updates.

Just like a year ago, the lowest I would have bought is the 5c for the same reasons as I stated above. The 4S is on its last leg right now, and I wouldn't even consider buying it.

LTE service is only relevant to markets that provide it, and there are still A LOT of places in the US alone that do not...places that are not overly rural, and have simply not improved their cellular network for their residents.

Screen size is a personal preference. There are still A LOT of people who prefer a smaller screen, which is why the 3.5" model is still sold in retail outlets.

They are perfectly relevant...maybe not to you, but you represent a singular consumer. Hundreds of thousands of people still buy these devices.
