IPhone 5s unlocked apple warranty coverage

I know this my seem like a dumb question but can anyone point me to the apple coverage of an unlocked iPhone 5s?, I purchased the phone outright at the apple store and vaguely recall the rep telling me that I had 30 days to purchase the apple care for the phone, I also bought an iPad Air and I know for a fact that the iPad has a years coverage before I will no longer have any support without purchasing further warranty, but does this also translate to the iPhone, first time I own one and really don't know to much on this particular subject, though my inclination is that it must have some limited coverage for a year, however this is only n assumption and I would appreciate it if anyone could inform be better on this subject or perhaps point me towards some information on it.

The warranty on the iPhone only works for the iPhone and its the same with the iPad.

Period: limited coverage for one year.

This is why I tend to buy AppleCare+. Peace of mind re replacements, two-year coverage.
