So I've had this happen to me about 3-5 times usually right when I take the phone off the charger after being charged. My iPhone becomes non responsive for about 3-4 minutes. Neither the home button or lock button works. The phone is on but won't respond. Eventually I am able to press the home button and it responds and everything is fine. Anyone experience this or no why it does this?

Its probably lag. You can try a restore if its really bothering you.

Well what's lagging? It's not like the phone is unlocked or anything? Is it software or hardware issue you think?

Three or four minutes? Restore the phone as new. If it keeps doing the same thing, demonstrate the problem at a Genius Bar for a device swap.

No, 3 or 4 minutes is way too long to "just happens sometimes" -- the occasional 1 or 2 seconds may be acceptable. Longer is not normal.
