iPhone 5s first time activation

Hi All

I got a brand new iPhone 5s and trying to activate it for the first time. I tried WIFI and it says server is temporary unavailable please try later.

Then I tried connecting to iTunes and getting the same error

Even after inserting sim phone is not able to search for network.

Any idea what must I do to activate my phone.

First of all please let us know what Carrier your trying to activate it on you mentioned a SIM card so I'm assuming it's AT&T or T-Mobile and is the SIM card itself new or from a past phone

The more info the better advice and help we can give you

Have you tried contacting the iStore you bought it from for help?

Again where did you get the Sim from?

It's a same sim which I was using in iPhone 5. So it's old sim not a new one

It's one of the network in South Africa called Cell C

Contacted apple store they said sometime apple servers are down so don't worry try after some time

But now I have tried some 10 times over period of 5 hrs with no luck

Tried with iTunes and wifi both

If you still have your i5 does the sim still work on it. Did you power down the i5 and can you call the cell C company for help

I'm a little confused that the Apple Store wouldn't help you more I would call again and tell them how long you have been waiting

Yes I still have iPhone 5 and sim works in that

It's working even in my friend iPhone 5

When you say activate are you saying restoring your phone via an iCloud backup using Wifi?

No it's not reaching till that screen

I am swiping to unlock the phone selecting language as English selecting country as South Africa and then selecting my wifi

Then getting message please wait for a main to activate your iPhone
After around 3 mins phone cannot be activated as apple server is temporary unavailable and blah blah blah......

You should get some kind of error or message

Would depend how wide spread the outage is sometimes iMessage is down but FaceTime will work

When I first got my Iphone I went through the same problem..Although I had great signal, it still didn't go past that stage. Come to find out it was a tower in my area had malfunction. I left the area and went elsewhere and finally was able to activate. Try that and hopefully it will work.

If you bought the phone from any shop it would come with a new sim and the shop would activate and rica the card

Hi all

Thanks my iPhone is now activated

Problem was sim was bit damaged that's why it was not detected in ip5s but strange to me same sim was working in ip5. Istore guys told that 5s is more secure than 5 that's why little damage sim also will not work

I swap the sim with new one and all is fine now
