I don't have an iPhone 5S, but on my iPhone 5, pressing the volume buttons increase the volume of Siri. I don't know what else to tell you, ma'am.

One last thing because JustMe'D was not wrong. in order to make Siri louder you have to press the up volume button when using Siri as Siri is saying something. You will see the speaker icon and volume go up to what you want.

I worked for me and what a big difference in the volume with Siri. Is it possible to increase the sound in all the other apps and sounds that way, or was it just for Siri? I already have the sound all the way up for everything else, but a more higher volume would be even better. This is my first iPhone by the way.
    thanks for a reply 

Never mind. I figured it out.  for those of you that don't know you can copy the symbol from glyphboard go to keyboard shortcuts in settings paste the symbol as the phrase and for example my shortcut is "applelogo"
