Re: What Is The Number 1 Reason You Bought The 5S?
All great answers and vastly different each and every one of them but that is why I started the thread to see WHY? I just came home today with mine that I had sent to the local Apple store an hour from my house after waiting forever but so far it is a winner and my upgrade was due. I got in and out in 1/2 hour and all I had them do was help me set up Touch ID. I came home and did the rest through iTunes and all went well.
I am happy to hear everyone enjoys their new 5S as I am sure I will too.

Re: What Is The Number 1 Reason You Bought The 5S?
Well, as the days go on I start to use an appreciate the camera more and I have finally found some apps that make use of the faster processor. However, the feature that really spoke to me was Touch ID. Considering I'm a password kinda guy (learned the hard way, unfortunately) and also keep waking up my phone from sleep, a 4-digit passcode was really annoying to type repeatedly. When I heard of the new camera and the faster processor, the photographer and gamer in me immediately fell in love with me. However, as soon as they mentioned Touch ID, i made my decision. I mean, a faster processor and better camera are almost always a given. However, something like a fingerprint sensor was great news for someone like me, who kept waking up his phone all the time but grew annoyed of the passcode, the decision was easy. I had to have this phone.
TL;DR: It was Touch ID, plain and simple.

Re: What Is The Number 1 Reason You Bought The 5S?
Biggest reason was upgrading to 32g. My 4s was 16g.

Re: What Is The Number 1 Reason You Bought The 5S?
I thought most people bought it due to the new Gold Color and the Touch ID. Also, the better camera.

Re: What Is The Number 1 Reason You Bought The 5S?
Speed over same as iPhone 5, with some bels and whistles. But much more faster

Re: What Is The Number 1 Reason You Bought The 5S?
I had an iPhone 4s for two years and felt like this was a worthy upgrade.

Re: What Is The Number 1 Reason You Bought The 5S?
Because it is a phone that fits in my hand. Because it does NOT look like I am holding a 32" TV screen to my head.

Re: What Is The Number 1 Reason You Bought The 5S?
The size, being it still fits in my hand.

Re: What Is The Number 1 Reason You Bought The 5S?

Re: What Is The Number 1 Reason You Bought The 5S?
I'll tell you why - I got tired of other devices not working properly.
When I make a phone call, I want that phone call to go through. Network connectivity, congestion and signal issues aside a phone should work as a phone. I don't care if you take the "smart" moniker and point out that while my phone cannot communicate by voice I can do so with email and SMS. My wife and I up until Wednesday each had an HTC One. (My wife is still on her HTC One, and will continue to use Android until a 5" or greater device is released) I have replaced my wife's HTC One three times, her previous phone the Galaxy S3 four times and I myself had replaced my HTC One a handful of times. Now I know refurbished phones carry a negative connotation with them and for good reason - perception as well as real world scenarios have told us they do not perform as well as new devices out of the box. I replaced my HTC One earlier this week through warranty and by Wednesday I was back in an AT&T store to cancel the contract on my old device and activate a new line to purchase the 5S on contract.
I don't pay ETF's - it is against my religion. I would much rather argue on the phone with a retention specialist for an hour until my fees are waived. The fact that I did this, and for an iPhone, speaks volumes about the pent up frustration and anger I had over my non-working phone. The 5S has produced crystal clear calls, reliable data speeds and nice pictures from the camera. I am very impressed with the whole package.

For me I just wanted to have the latest and greatest model available. So far I have been very delighted.

Re: What Is The Number 1 Reason You Bought The 5S?
A much needed upgrade. From iP4 to 5S. :)

Re: What Is The Number 1 Reason You Bought The 5S?
The z30 didn't fit comfortably in my pocket.

Re: What Is The Number 1 Reason You Bought The 5S?
Multiple reasons but predominantly speed, camera (got some great shots already) and a touch of gold. Touch ID is nice to have as was never a fan of having to enter a password every time I used the phone.

Re: What Is The Number 1 Reason You Bought The 5S?
For me it was that I wanted a 64 GB version, had 32 before.

Re: What Is The Number 1 Reason You Bought The 5S?
Well, I was on the "Blackberry hype" back in the day. Started with a Curve 8900 then a Bold 9700, followed by a Bold 9900.
I had it in my head that I never wanted a phone with a touchscreen keypad, purely due to how fast I could type with the keyboard on the Blackberry phones.
But Blackberry was beginning to feel a bit dated. Especially the OS. I've always liked the look of the iPhone since it got rid of the curved back (so, iPhone 4 onwards) and I already had an iPod Touch 4th Gen. As my Bold 9900 contract was coming to its end, I found myself playing around on the iPod a bit more, as if I was subconsciously preparing to make the switch to Apple.
As luck would have it, my contract with the Bold ended just as the iPhone 5S was being revealed and released and when watching YouTube videos of IOS7, I fell in love with the OS straight away. It spoke to my "minimalist" nature. I originally had planned to get an iPhone 5, but after seeing the 5S, I couldn't bring myself to not get the flagship device.
