Messages on lock screen

All of a sudden I am not getting messages on my lock screen. I checked in settings and show alerts on lock screen is on. I have sent myself emails and after I hear the alert I hit the home button and the lock screen shoes the time and slide to unlock. If I unlock the screen it shows the number of emails in the native mail app. Also alerts don't show up in the notification center just calendar entries. Did I shut something off somewhere? Please help.

If you haven't already, do the following:

Go to Settings>Notification Center>Mail and then select your mail account and then scroll down and enable "Show on Lock Screen".

​afterwards, reboot your iPhone.

That did thanks for the help. I was only looking under messages not under mail. I just moved from blackberry, still getting used to the op system.
