I have a bit of a dilemma and was wondering on you peoples opinions.

I ordered my 16gb Space Grey iPhone 5S on the 28th of September and it is still in the processing stage. The thing is I'm leaving the US on the 18th and would need the phone before that. I'm in NY and I'm thinking of canceling the order because I'm worried it won't arrive before I leave.

Anyone have any opinion on whether it will arrive before?

Also if the order does manage to go to the shipping stage how long does that take? I'm just really worried it will arrive after I leave which I can't have cause I'm going abroad for quite a while - any ideas?

Have you checked stock at local stores? Not sure where in NYC you are or what carrier you ordered but just did a quick search on Apple.com for a GSM (AT&T) and it is available for pickup in Soho store, 14th street store and fifth avenue store. Good luck!

I think this is too general... I have bought several items from apple and never been disappointed with their service. For me I knew i wanted gold and I was going to have to wait unless I got extremely lucky. I work too much to spend my time stalking stores. I am not upset with apple in the least, they shipped it in exactly the timeframe they projected for me. I got more frustrated with UPS, while I know i didn't request expedited shipping, this is the first time it has taken the full 5 business days plus a weekend thrown in there. Usually it moves much faster but still technically this is my fault as well for not paying extra. Basically it's all a gamble of when you order and what exactly your order is no matter where you order from. It is the gamble you make by ordering online right when a new tech toy comes out (when there is no pre-order), it's not just apple. While pre-ordering is a lovely luxury that we have gotten used to, it is just that... a luxury. So other than my frustration with how long the shipping is taking, as i noted above, I truly am not disappointed in the process and I would definitely order from apple again in the future.

I agree with you on that one. Even though mine is still processing, I wouldn't stop shopping at Apple's online store. It's still much easier than going to stores asking about a phone between work and taking care of my family. It might take a couple of months that way!!

Since that day there has been no movement from Processing Items.

I got the same question too!
As I posted here earlier it seams the UK Store orders are moving much faster than the US and that explains it. Since the countries listed in the Press Release all will get the UK model that means Apple is consuming most of their resources making the UK models and that's why the UK store is moving much faster.

But the US Store? It's dead, it didn't even pass the 20th of Sept orders. I ordered a white/silver iPhone 5S Tmobile 32 GB on the 27th of Sept and I am already hopeless.

That might sound stupid but since I am going for a short holiday this week, I just purchased a new smartphone from another brand to enjoy it for a little as my old smartphone was completely dead, and will sell the new one when the iPhone 5S reaches.... If it ever does!

If I ordered 23rd or later it would've been 4-6 weeks lead time.

Seems like it has been forever though.

"Up to 3 weeks" was when I initially placed the order. Tracking shows UPS 2nd Day so I should receive on Friday.

I was thinking I wouldn't make it in the 3 week window.
